"Women of the Red Earth" is a cross-cultural exhibition in which artist Margie Beth Labadie (Ashkenazi-Levi) visually illuminates the literary works of Tonya Holy Elk Locklear (Lumbee/Ogala Lakota). Visually striking Native American objects and powerful images entice viewers to come closer to read newly written, untold histories of Native Americans who continue to struggle in an overwhelmingly non-indigenous United States. A view through the Indigenous lens, this exhibition is meant to knock down the stereotypical walls that continue to be the European perception of Native Americans.
